‘Finding Home’ panel, reading and workshop at Ragdale March 22

Finding Home flyer FINALThe Four Words for Home is launching and I’m hitting the road!

One of the first events, in the Chicago area, that I’m really excited about is “Finding Home: Writing & Publishing in the Global Community.” This half-day panel, reading, and workshop at the beautiful Ragdale artist’s community focuses on multicultural stories and authors. Poet Angela Narciso Torres and I, both former Ragdale residents and co-winners of the 2013 Willow Books Literature Awards, will read from our books and teach workshops.

The afternoon will begin with a panel featuring publishers and editors from Willow Books, RHINO7Vientos, and Guild Literary Complex. Angela and I will read, and coffee and networking will follow.

The second half of the afternoon will feature workshops in poetry and prose, including manuscript critiques, with a reception at the end of it all. If you haven’t seen the former country home of architect Howard Van Doren Shaw in Lake Forest, Ill., flanked by prairie and some jaw-dropping real estate, that alone is worth your while.

Please share, re-post, link this for your Chicago-area writer friends who might be interested –manuscript-submission deadline for workshops is March 15, and registration will stay open until filled.
